ELECTRIC SNAKES DISINTEGRATE

Watching grass
Sway above
In the breeze
So easily moved,
I stay beneath

Coughed up blood yesterday
And learned, the hard way
That that is Not
A medical emergency

Today I
Splashed Sriracha
in my eye
a man walked by
repeating the words “pooping, farting,
farting pooping”
I fell asleep
In the hospital bed
And was told
“nothing is wrong”
Enjoy New York

Pastille past time
A man emerges
From his emergency bed
And said
“I heard you guys
Talking about me”

I saw
The statue of liberty
From a traffic jam
Comfort zone

The melody from the song
“get me thru this,
Semi charmed kinda life,
Baby, baby “
Repeats over and over
Like a weapon of
Psychological warfare

“Get me thru this,
Semi charmed kinda life,
Baby, baby”

Today I splashed
Sriracha in my eye
At the restaurant
Table
For one
I ate alone

Terrified I had lost
blood or that that was
a medical emergency

did I mention my
symptoms
correctly?

Now Carly Simon fills
The space between
“I feel the earth , move,
Under my feet”

THIS IS MARIA HERNANDEZ PARK

Sitting on a bench
In a park that shares
The same name
as my mother
A family eats pizza
From a box
I drink beer
Out of conspicuous
Turquoise plastic
